The Case for a 4-3 Base →
Though the Pats have been in a 3-4 the first couple days of camp I don’t really read to much into it. This is always how Belichick teaches his defense from the bottom up. But in the coming weeks I would not be surprised to see more of the 4-3 scheme, especially if players like Tyrone McKenzie and Brandon Spikes continue to impress.

Slowly Making Big Picture Sense of Patriots...
As anyone who has ever read this Patriots blog knows I’m really not all that big on doing linkage anymore. If you’d like the best Patriots linkage on the web I suggest you go over to Marima’s posts on PatsPulpit.com. The last day has been a whirlwind of Pats activity, and most Pats blogs out there are in overdrive, except mine, which as you can see is pretty barren because like...

Patriots Training Camp: 7/29 Practice Observation...
I’m a little overwhelmed this morning, all the practice reports are rolling in, there’s just so much excitement it’s hard to put up a blog when there’s more and more news constantly flowing in. Here’s what’s up so far, and I’ll update this page throughout the day with the afternoon recaps as well… Some initial thoughts from me: Derrick Burgess is a...

End of the Line for the Crable Bandwagon
For the past few months we’ve been hyping Shawn “Crazy Legs” Crable as the 2010 Patriots Breakout Player… unless he got cut. It’s important to note that the “unless he gets cut” addendum was always added when talking about Crable. Seriously, search “Crable” on this blog and you’ll see for yourself.  Just days ago on PatsPulpit.com I...

Sporting News: Mayo #3 Ranked 3-4 ILB →
Wow, kinda surprised Mayo gets this much love since he wasn’t quite the same player he was as a rookie due to a knee injury in 2009. Not a lot of people are talking about how much better Mayo should be this year, could be a major factor.

Patsfans' Ian Logue Has Notes on Crable →
Some speculation why he might’ve been IR’d, but let me say this, if a guy known for his speed, who’s basically on his last chance to be an NFL football player fails a conditioning test it’s almost more unforgivable than if he was injured again.

Don Banks/SI has the Jets #1 in Preseason Power... →
Good for them! Hey, as a Patriots fan we’ve been ranked number one in preseason polls probably 80% of the the time in the last 8 years, and what we’ve learned is that a lot of things need to go right to be the only team standing at the end.  Personally I enjoy the Jets love fest this offseason while the Patriots quietly reload in the shadows. When you’re in the spotlight every...

PUP Platter: Crable, Welker, Weston Start Off...
It’s a sad and disappointing morning here at the Propaganda HQ and it has nothing to do with Wes Welker starting off on the PUP list. Welker can still return at any time during camp, and honestly I expected them to bring him along slowly. We all know what Welker can do, and the Patriots need him at the end of the season not at the start. This will give the young WRs to get a lot of quality...

Patriots Training Camp Point of Emphasis: Stop the...
We are approximately 60 hours from the opening of Patriots training camp, and by now you should know all the camp battles to watch. But no matter who wins the starting jobs, or who is lost to injury, the Patriots will have to take the field against four tough opponents to start the 2010 season and stopping the run will be critical in each of those games. Three of the first four opponents were top...

One More Week of Darkness...
The week before training camp is hell. There’s no news to report other than sporadic rookie signings so the media has decided to make baseless speculation about if Tom Brady might hold out from training camp due to his lack of a new deal? (Are they doing the same thing about Peyton Manning, who is also without a new deal? Nope.) There’s nothing left to say about the 2009 season. And...

PatsPulpit 2010 Patriots Predictions →
I hate to be the one guy predicting the Patriots not to win the AFC East but I base it almost entirely on a young defense and a horrid schedule. I think the Dolphins win the AFCEast on a tie breaker, but I believe by the time the playoffs roll around the Patriots will be peaking and win at least 1-2 playoffs games.

Patriots Fun With Felgie
So below is a quote from the great (and by “great” I mean worst) Michael Felger’s mailbag, I chime in with my thoughts below…. The Patriots “insiders” tell me the rush is going to come from a more aggressive scheme. I’ll believe it when I see it. The personnel is what it is at this point, and when it comes to getting after the quarterback, it’s not...

Tom E. Curran Breaks Down the Coming Mankins Storm →
So we can all pretty much resign ourselves that the joy of training camp will be tarnished by the black cloud known as Logan Mankins. Tom E. is right on, every Patriot is going to get hammered with questions about it. All analysis of camp battles will take a back seat to all thing Mankins holdout related.  It does sound like there’s a chance this thing gets resolved, but knowing the...

Ian does a fantastic job of putting together just about everything that has been reported on the young Patriots OLB since he was drafted. There isn’t a player that will be followed more closely than Cunningham since he’s playing a position where the Pats need help.

Lombardi on the Patriots
Below is what Mike Lombardi had to say about the Pats. He shoots down the “window of opportunity” theory as well. New England Patriots: I laugh when people say the Patriots’ window is closing fast as Tom Brady gets older. Are you kidding me? The Patriots are a team in transition, but their window is not closing. In fact, it is getting wider as they keep surrounding Brady with...

OK I know there’s been a little too much Jets crap on here lately, but it’s hard to avoid when they’re yet again the toast of the offseason. Words cannot express how excited I am to see Hard Knocks this year. In fact I might even say I’m more excited than if the Patriots were on there. Why? Because I like keeping a certain mystique about the Pats, and you just know...

Patriots Drafting a New Window of Opportunity
As we close in on another season there’s a new set of talking points that all the national sports news outlets are hitting on when it comes to the Patriots. The biggest question they like to ask is whether or not the Patriots “window of opportunity” is closing. In true national media fashion this is just a lazy way to talk about the Pats. Remember just a couple short years ago...

NFL Network: Patriots at #9 →
Just back from vacation, catching up on all things Patriots that I missed and here’s NFL Network’s discussion of the Pats. The thing that bugs me is that they keep asking the same “is the window closing?” question. What this fails to acknowledge is that this is an entirely new defense than the one we last saw in Super Bowl 42. So this is a new window entirely. By the time...
