It’s looking like Drew Bledsoe should be the next inductee in to the Patriots Hall. Really, there’s no other choice. I saw many Patriots games before Drew came to Foxboro; it was a long gap between Steve Grogan and Bledsoe. The combination of him and Parcells certainly set the stage for the current run of dominance.

Tedy Bruschi on what it takes to play OLB in the 3-4. It’s important to note that the Patriots are one of the few teams that expects both OLBs to be able to to flip flop and play either side.
Some 3-4s like the Ravens or Steelers will keep their respective OLBs on one side, and usually that means they can afford to cheat a little bit in terms of having more of a pass rusher on one side, more of a stout guy on the other side.
The Patriots are a match-up based defense so being versatile and comfortable playing on either side is an important characteristic for any tweener they might consider. In 2010, rookie Jermaine Cunningham saw time at both starting spots in the 3-4 defense but also as a DPR (designated pass rusher).

Patriots-only Big Board UPDATED!
We’ve begun to take a hatchet to our rankings, trimming the fat, players that in our view the Patriots would never draft. Most interesting is the appearance of a lot of late round pass rusher options. I’ve slowly fallen out of love with just about every high round OLB conversion project. All seem to come with significant risk. For me pick 17 will be all about defensive or offensive line.
Come listen to myself and Erik Frenz of Myspace Football and Bleacher Report this Sunday at 1pm EST. This week we welcome Kristen Shilton of The Foxhole Patriots blog over at Aerys Sports. It’ll be a half hour of hard core Pats talk!!
But just knowing Rex, and just knowing how much he dislikes the Patriots, I think this game will be a lot more competitive than what people think. It Is What It Is » Rodney Harrison on MFB: ‘Geno Smith, he stinks, Michael Vick doesn’t want to play’ I agree, as much as I’d love a […]
