Training Camp

Earlier I found out that today would be the last media attended practice allowed during camp, so for one final time this season, here are today’s Tweets of Note.

The Patriots moved the practice into Gillette Stadium today for what we anticipated to be a full-speed scrimmage session. Unfortunately, it was a glorified walkthrough in shorts and shells.

Due to some adverse weather around Foxborough, today’s practice was brought forward to a 09:15 start. Pads were back on, refs were in attendance, and one side of the ball still continues to dominate. I present today’s Tweets of Note, along with my thoughts.

LB Cassh Maluia missed his first practice of camp today, along with fellow rookie LB Josh Uche. These guys have been performing well so far, and have real shot at being part of the LB playing group come the regular season, let’s hope they’re back tomorrow.

The Patriots were back in shells and shorts this morning, following two padded sessions to begin the week. I present today’s Tweets of Note, along with my thoughts.

This caught my eye, if you asked me who’d have topped total receptions through nine practices, I wouldn’t have said Gunner Olszewski. A really great camp for him so far, along with Bird, and Harry who’s come on well this week.

With competition and intensity ramping up, the Pats had their second straight padded practice of the week, here are Tuesday’s Tweets of Note.

CB Stephon Gilmore returned today alongside rookie UDFA, TE Jake Burt. It’s great to have Gilmore back, rumors were swirling that his absence was something to do with his contract situation. Personally I don’t think that was the case, either way, he’s now back with the secondary, who has been one of the top-performing positional groups so far in camp.

Another warm day in Foxborough as the Patriots were back in pads to begin a new week. Before drills got underway, the yearly slip and slide welcoming show for the rookie coaches and players took place. Matthew Slater was on hose duty ensuring the newbies were well and truly drenched before practice started.

Good news for RB James White, CB Michael Jackson, and RB J.J. Taylor who all returned to practice today, likely caught up in the false-positive saga that made the news yesterday. Also back today was LB Tashawn Bower, whos return is a big plus, the position is already pretty thin, hopefully, he can get back on track for a good end to camp.

A string of new players were added to the list of absentees from training today. It later turned out the Patriots had been affected by the false-positive COVID-19 tests connected to a New Jersey lab that hit multiple teams today.
