Yeah I don’t think there’s much question that Solder-?-Stork-Jackson-Vollmer is the line. That ? is a big one though and many are pencilling in Wendell there which is a little scary because he still hasn’t practiced and he’s never played LG as far as we know. One of the big problems last year was there was so much rotation going on all over the line. This summer they’ve tried to have consistency, but is that consistency done once Mason gets pulled from the LG spot? Assuming they don’t just ride with him there in to the regular season? I’m still not entirely sure what happens there or if we don’t see Josh Klein get some opportunities there. This is the last starting spot on the roster where things are still cloudy a bit.

As much as Mayo seems recovered from his injury, torn patellar tendons are notorious for sapping lateral speed etc and I just can’t see Mayo being at a high enough level to be anyone near as good as he use to be not to mention he was also coming off his torn pec last year. What do you think?
I guess we’ll just have to see how he looks once he gets on the field for a game. I think the severity of Mayo’s injury has been somewhat glossed over because he came back so quickly and everyone’s just assuming he’ll be fine. But I think you’re very right that there’s a chance Mayo’s not quite the same player this season. Wilfork certainly returned from a major injury without any bumps last year and he seemed close to the same player, so hopefully Mayo can do the same. But it’s definitely not something that we should assume is far in the rearview mirror.

5 New England Patriots Youngsters on the Rise After First Preseason Game
New one up on Athlon taking a look at five young guys who stood out and should factor into the plans for the regular season. Still a long way to go but we’re underway!
Do you see belichick going for two more since he is the one who brought the idea up
Was thinking a bit about this after we saw so many teams focusing on the two-point plays in the preseason games. I think if it’s early in the game you just take the single point, but if you’re in catch-up mode in the second half we might see more two-point attempts. I’m not sure the minor uptick in difficulty for the extra point is enough to really make going for two every time feasible.
Do you see a chance of them keeping all three linebackers on the field in the nickel package using one as a DE
My sneaking suspicion is that Ninkovich is coming off the field and Hightower will play more of an edge role on clear passing down situations. But as I’ve said before there are just so many options with so many athletes on defense that it’s hard to say what they WILL do, because they CAN do so many things and that’s the whole point.
Saw you have Tyms and Gibson making the team but not Dobson, what’s your thought process on that
Dobson just returned to practice yesterday, but at this point how can we count on him for anything? He has been almost constantly battling something ever since he arrived here. And he doesn’t play special teams, so unless he lights it up the last three preseason games and stay healthy, I’m leaning toward Gibson because he simply can stay on the field.
Tyms plays special teams and has good downfield speed so I just see more value with him there.
But the book is slowly closing on Dobson. Year three was when they cut Chad Jackson as well. No one needs a bigger three weeks than him.
