Not a bad way to start a Tuesday. Pressure’s on McCourty and the other experienced safeties this season and it’s certainly a bad thing if McCourty’s back at corner at some point.

He’s the leader of the secondary now and I think we’re in good hands.

Summer school: What Patriots can learn from ’03-04 repeat – WEEI | Mike Petraglia

If the Patriots are to repeat again it will be all about the how good the defensive front seven can be, a large part of which depends on how healthy they stay. That was the secret of the 2000′s, having a bunch of defenders in their prime that could dictate to the offense. For all the comparison’s to the secondaries of 2010-2012, there’s just no comparison as far as the front seven goes. Remember when Tully Banta-Cain was the top defensive end? Or Gary Guyton being a key linebacker? How about Derrick Burgess? 

No, this team is so much more talented up front. Once again it will just come down to coming through in the clutch.

Good Sunday morning read from Field Yates this week. Especially liked his nugget on the defensive front seven being able to potentially overwhelm teams like the Lions did in 2014. McCourty’s a big part of that, but also linebacker health which will allow the Patriots to employ a lot of creativity.
