Good stuff from Jerry Thornton as always…
With the premiere of Hard Knocks tonight we wanted to provide some linkage to the 5-part review we did of each episode of the Jets season of the show back in 2010. While I would love to see the Pats on Hard Knocks it’s safe to say it will never happen with BB in command, and I’m okay with that. At least we got BB’s Football Life.
Those these articles are a couple years old they still hold up to our high standard of making fun of the Jets.

Star performer of the day. Jerod Mayo. Probably long overdue that he lands in this category, as he’s had a strong camp. The linebacker caught the eye on Monday with disruptive penetration in 11-on-11 work, and overall strong work in the run game.

Rookie watch. Defensive end Chandler Jones continues to run with the top unit and is getting a lot of reps. … Ditto for linebacker Dont’a Hightower … Saw a lot of safety Tavon Wilson covering tight ends, which could be a niche for him on D.

Areas of intrigue at joint practice – New England Patriots Blog – ESPN Boston
Should get a really good gauge on the rookies today and tomorrow, especially:
Patriots defensive end Chandler Jones vs. Saints tackles Jermon Bushrod and Zach Strief. Jones has already impressed in the early portion of training camp, and has the chance to continue to do so against a pair of powerful Saints tackles. Should the teams participate in a 1-on-1 drill with the offensive and defensive linemen, expects plenty of eyes to be on Jones.

Good list of guys to watch, would be great to see Cunningham flash something against the Saints. Can Brace and Dennard get healthy in time to get on the field Thursday night? That’s a big question.

Couple Ras-I tidbits from this one…
CB Ras-I Dowling continues to make progress. Physically, he has been much-improved from where he was in the off-season practices, and now he has started making plays on the ball. On Sunday he had an interception, and on Monday he made a terrific break on a pass in the flat from Brady to Brandon Lloyd. Dowling jumped it like he knew it was coming – that’s an advantage vets use during camp because they can identify the route combinations – but after practice he said he broke so fast because he was reading Brady. Next progress point for Dowling: performing against the Saints.
Patriots prefer Dowling as a base cornerback in the red zone as opposed Kyle Arrington. Not a surprise given Dowling’s height advantage.
The Patriots are a young team, which means they will make mistakes as the year goes along. The loss to the Jets was part of that growing process that, if they continue to practice and grow, will benefit them in November and December. Michael Lombardi
