Usually we kick the week of on Wednesday, but there’s much unfinished business with Peyton and the Colts so we’re starting early this week. I want mas Manning face this weekend!!

Tom Brady – Bob Costas Interview. Anyone know where I can get a TB12 hat?

We’re going to see this stupid 4th and 2 play a hundred billion times this week so I just wanted to get it out of the way now, while still in the afterglow of beating the Steelers.
It’s strange, I feel like I’m already 90% looking ahead to the Colts. The last two years have been hugely disappointing losses to them and while there was once a time we have Peyton Manning’s number, the Pats are 1-5 since the 2004 AFCDG against the Colts. Only in 2007 did we beat them, but in just about every game (except for 2005/2006 regular season contests at Gillette) I felt like the Patriots were the better team.
2006 AFCCG: Second Half Implosion costs Pats another Super Bowl.
2008: David Thomas doesn’t hear whistle, takes penalty that pushes Pats back and out of Field Goal range. Would’ve/Shoud’ve gone to overtime at least.
2009: See video above. You know what happened, and if you’re like me, you’re still sick about it.
I just feel like we really, really owe the Colts a smackdown.

I believe I described James Sanders last week as “solid but unspectacular”. Well this was a pretty spectacular play and went a long way towards decreasing my heart palpitations last night. If you’ve been watching the Pats closely since the 2006 AFCCG you’re no stranger to late game defensive meltdowns. Even in 2007 when 18 of 19 games were not blown late, you only remember the big one that was. Then 2009 was basically just a collection of late game disasters, so it’s nice to have my trust in this team to put games away slowly rebuilt.

When I watched Tom Brady in warm-ups in Pittsburgh, his look, his body language was the same as it was in Miami a few weeks back. When he has that certain “look,” I know he is going to play well. And he got my MVP vote with that performance against the Steelers. Brady is part quarterback, part leader, part coach and, most of all, everything about what the Patriots stand for. He is the experienced player, the one coach Bill Belichick uses to help him focus this young team. He was great in beating the Steelers but, for me, he was even better off the field. He demanded from his teammates and pushed them to stay focused. Brady allows Belichick to concentrate on making the right decisions and coaching the game. Right now Brady has my vote.
