“I happened to see him a week and a half ago, and he looks great. We think everything should be fine there.”
Kraft joked that Welker is “the true Patriot missile.”

I loved his energy when he got drafted and everybody was standing around with their hats on. That made me feel good about him coming to the New England Patriots, because he was ready to come.

I like this signing. If nothing else it gives the Pats a solid veteran presence to rush the QB. Burgess did come on at the end of last year somewhat, but I wasn’t as high on him as a lot of people were. Many gave him a free pass for “learning the system”. Well he’s been rushing the QB with his hand on the ground for his entire career and that’s mostly what he did with the Pats last year. It’s not complicated, beat the tackle in front of you to the QB.
So who knows, maybe he’ll be the Burgess of the final four games for all of 2010. But at the very least we know he’s a decent option. And yes, “decent option” is what we’ve descended to with pass rushers.

Steve Sabol: How to Film Your Kids Games
Okay, this isn’t a Patriots related post so forgive me. But one of the things that really drew me to the NFL as a kid were the highlight reels they would play on Inside the NFL every week. Everything seemed so epic. I don’t think Steve Sabol gets enough credit for making the NFL what it is today.
It was those highlight films that led me to teach myself how to edit on my parents home video recorder. The first highlight film I ever made was of my freshman football team, set to Bust a Move and of course Eye of the Tiger. I need to dig those up at some point. The fact that I know work in television is probably very much a result of watching those NFL Films.
I thought this article was pretty funny, and if only my Dad had these tips way back when the 1991 Holliston Panther Freshman Football Highlight package would’ve been even better.
