A position in need of depth was addressed today as Shaun Wade was acquired in a trade with the Ravens which saw a 7th-round pick for 2022 and a 5th-round pick for 2023 go the other way.
Wade, who played football in college for Ohio State, was chosen in the 5th-round in this year’s draft by Baltimore. After a fairly strong start to camp, there was a lot of interest in his services on the trade market, Baltimore decided to cash in on the rookie. With their secondary already pretty stacked, reporters noted that Wade would have struggled to make the 53-man roster, and Baltimore clearly felt he wouldn’t survive waivers to get him back on the practice squad.
It adds another body to the position that needed depth, with Stephon Gilmore still sitting out of camp, Wade will come straight in to compete for his place in the lineup, look out for him this Sunday in the final pre-season game against the Giants.
