Following a busy couple of days regarding transactions, let’s take a look at the current status of the Patriots signings/roster moves.
TE Jordan Leggett
Reported first by Field Yates, the deal to sign free agent TE Jordan Leggett is off. The reason why the deal couldn’t be completed hasn’t been released, but after an agreement was initially reached yesterday, it points to a potential failure at either the Covid-19 testing or physical stage of due diligence. Either way, he won’t be a Patriot this season.
It’s a shame this move didn’t work out, I was curious to see how Leggett got on in camp, now (once all projected signings are confirmed) the Patriots have one remaining roster spot for training camp, and I expect them to bring in someone else at the position, they’ve recently shown interest in FA Delanie Walker.
Current TE’s- Devin Asiasi, Dalton Keene, Ryan Izzo, Jake Burt
DT Darius Kilgo
Regarding Kilgo, he successfully signed today and will become a member of the active roster. @Patscap predicts the deal to be a minimum salary of $825k for one year.
LB Brandon King
The team also announced today that Brandon King would be placed on the reserve PUP list, meaning he won’t be eligible to play in the first six games of the regular season. After spending the entirety of last season on IR, King will once again begin the regular season on the sidelines as he continues to recover from injury.
RB Lamar Miller
Following my update yesterday, the Patriots are expected to sign former Pro Bowl RB Lamar Miller, whilst it didn’t appear on the transaction wire today, the deal is still expected to go ahead. However, as we saw today with the Leggett deal, nothing is certain until the contract is signed, but all being well, Miller will be a Patriot in the next couple of days.
Current RB’s – James White, Rex Burkhead, Damien Harris, J.J. Taylor
PUP- Sony Michel Opt-Out- Brandon Bolden
OL Tyler Gauthier
The Pats are also expected to add OL depth as Center Tyler Gauthier is projected to rejoin his former team following a visit. Gauthier originally signed with the Pats in 2019 after going undrafted in that year’s draft.
He was waived during final day roster cuts but spent time on the practice squad last season. He was later signed by the Jags to their practice squad in December last year, before being cut on August 8.
With David Andrews returning, Gauthier could add additional needed depth at the Center position after backup Ted Karras left in free agency.
