We’re back! Sorry for the lack of content since the Draft, my laptop died, and I’ve only just got it back from repairs, just in time for OTAs!
Before the official training camp gets underway later this summer, let’s take a quick dive into some of the main TON from the first week of OTAs.
Friend of the blog Mike D posted a great pano shot from a glorious day in Foxborough yesterday. One note from this specifically, you’ll see that the fields have been flipped horizontally, giving media a full sideline view.
Phil Perry chimed in with some info that all of us were waiting to hear, how Mac Jones looked. Now, I wasn’t expecting any QB1 calls, or the Jones blew anyone away, but, I’m just so excited to see how he gets on as the summer moves forward. Accurate throws are what he was known for in college, it’s something we should be seeing from the off, so good to hear he delivered yesterday.
Great shot by Mike of Mac Jones wearing 50, yet to earn his permanent number, which I presume will be 10, the number he wore at Alabama.
Nothing much to take from this, after all, OTAs are voluntary as Bill said in his press conference yesterday. But, at the bottom of Mike’s list, he notes some early injury concerns, also thrown in there will be 7th-round pick WR Tre Nixon, who is apparently dealing with a knee injury.
This is still early on, but for the majority who will be expected to be on the roster, worth keeping an eye on how this develops.
Agree with Evan here, intrigued to see how Matty P is involved this season. The guys on Patriots Unfiltered spoke of how it seems he has the best role in football this year, an advisor, coaching mentor, and aide to Bill. With a few seasons of head coaching experience under his belt, Patricia should play a key role in Bill’s staff this year.
For me, just as a little pre-camp prediction, I think Jakobi Meyers is a lock for the 53-man roster, and Harry will be traded.
I think it’s safe to refer to the B-word with Harry now, a first-round bust. As always, I hope I’m wrong, but Meyers, a UDFA, has shown far more as he enters his third season with the team. Bob Socci’s clip from them both on the field shows their early fight for a roster spot.
