Third and final week of OTAs in New England! – Next week is minicamp and is mandatory for all players, but for now, let’s check out all of the Tweets of Note from Week 3 of OTA media availability.
Bill spoke to the media before today’s session and was asked straight away about the condition of Cam Newton following his widely reported hand injury last week.
Bill was fairly open about the matter and confirmed Cam would be absent from today’s session, but thinks “he’ll be alright”. With no Cam, the understanding would be more reps for Stidham, Jones, and Hoyer.
BOOM was back on the practice field today following over a year out of action. This was great to see, so many reports and rumors about Hightower retiring this offseason were put to bed.
Now, he looks a little leaner for sure, but, he was straight into the action and had a notable presence on the field. A massive boost for the defense having High back, let’s go!
This is something fans like me will be excited about, 10-85 connection. Early days as Jones is still in the early stages of learning the system and getting used to the timing when throwing to NFL players but, cool to see this.
The media got their first chance to look at rookie draft pick Rhamondre Stevenson today, he was out catching passes from Stidham, along with J.J. Taylor, who continues to be involved heavily in OTAs.
Taylor was a fun watch in camp last year, stuck around the practice squad, and managed to get some game time. Will be fascinating to watch him progress as the summer continues.
One thing that will be inevitable through the summer is injury scares, with Newton already missing with a hand injury, Hunter Henry appears to have escaped a scary knock towards the end of practice.
This made the headlines quite quickly, but, Henry sounds to be OK following the fall.
The missing list continues to shrink down, but a number of vets and new signings are still absent. All expected to return next week for mandatory minicamp or face fines, Stephon Gilmore being the only one to watch on that front as salary demands could be floating around.
