Another sunny day in Foxboro? Check. Another busy training camp session? Check. The last practice without pads? Check! – Here are the Tweets of Note from Day 5 of Training Camp.
Cool to see this, two of the top special teamers in the league showing roster hopeful Kristian Wilkerson some techniques to try and help him be successful in an alternate role. Wilkerson has shown some sparks in these first few sessions catching the ball, being a tool for special teams will be vital in him earning a roster spot.
McMillan had plenty of praise for Hightower in his post-practice presser today. Cool to hear this, McMillan is an intriguing addition to the LB core and I’m sure he’ll be like a sponge around High, trying to learn as much as possible.
This is amazing. If only there were some photos of this, absolutely amazing. Seriously though, it’s great to see the effort from Mac to bond with his teammates, he comes across as a dopey guy, but shows off his intelligence in interviews, he seems a really cool kid.
New location for Mike today opposite the stadium, glorious day! In England, there aren’t opportunities to attend sports practice like this, what a privilege for the fans and media there today.
No real surprises on this list, Karras is the one concern after he left Friday’s session with a knee injury, fingers crossed we’ll see him return soon.
Stidham is out with a rumored back injury, perhaps a candidate for IR at some point? Gilmore is still waiting for his contract situation to be resolved and is currently “rehabbing”. Winovich has also been dealing with something as he has yet to appear on the main field at camp.
Cameron McGrone is still recovering from a torn ACL last year and isn’t expected to be part of this season. Terez Hall, Joshuah Bledsoe, and Byron Cowart also missing. Devin Asiasi is still recovering from COVID-19.
We had Ted Karras leave with an injury a few days ago, now Henry Anderson is a concern following a knock late in today’s session. According to Jeff Howe, Anderson hurt himself in a blocking drill. Hopefully, this isn’t anything serious as I was excited to see how he performed when camp gets more physical in pads, one to watch.
Mike Reiss noted a great throw by Mac down to Isiah Zuber for a 50-yard score whilst was Cam still working on his running plays during the session. A mixed day for both QB’s again. Tomorrow will be the first chance to see them in a football setting one on one.
For those of you on #PadWatch – tomorrow seems to be gearing up to be the day. Paul Perillo from Patriots.com felt the practice was slower today, and it makes sense following a day off on Sunday, the team should be ready to roll tomorrow.
A connection I hope we will see in the regular season, Mac to Henry across the middle. The potential of these two tight/three tight end sets is exciting.
Pads tomorrow? LFG
