After what felt like forever (it was only a week), we have pads! Pads mean an increase in physicality to practice, and it really is the first time you’ll be able to begin making informed opinions on who may or may not make the roster.
Week 2 of Patriots Training Camp is here, let’s see what were the Tweets Of Note!
Mike D keeps bringing the different camera angles from camp, another glorious day, made even better by the addition of shoulder pads.
Just before practice, a report broke that punter Jake Bailey had signed a new 4-year extension with the team, making him one of the league’s highest-paid players at the position. This will apparently free up some cap space whilst confirming Bailey as the team’s punter long-term.
The defense gets some reinforcements thanks to these three returning to the field. Reports were that they worked back in at a steady pace, but I’m just glad they’re back out there and we’ll get to take a look at Peppers especially, I think he could play a role for the team this season if he can stay healthy.
Just a downfield rep here, but Mac Jones spent a portion of today’s session throwing deep passes, something which Pats fans will be wanting to see more of in the regular season.
Evan Lazar spent a good time of practice watching both lines, the news about Barmore and Godchaux gets me excited, these two could be really good this year.
The Mac-Parker connection continues.
Thornton is making the most of his chances, I’m interested to see how he does in the preseason games and joint practices against real opposition DBs, I think that will really give us an indication of his flatline speed on deep routes.
An underdog narrative is brewing with Bill Murray, I’m hoping to hear his name more as the days string together, what a story it would be for him to make the team in his new role.
Towards the end of last week, Bill spoke about how the first week really is a continuation of OTAs. Now the real football begins in full pads, as noted by Mark Daniels.
Another camp body was added to the secondary, which is another area that is pretty stacked.
