Scouting the Draft: Mississippi State’s Fletcher Cox – NYTimes.com
Cox is best in tight quarters where he can use his strength and above-average quickness. Outside, he often comes off the ball too upright and loses leverage. At the 5:11 mark against Wake, you can see him rush with a poor base and ultimately lose balance. The same thing happens at 21 seconds versus ‘Bama. He simply looks far more natural inside. As a pass rusher, Cox needs to refine his secondary moves. He can work a spin at times, but he hasn’t been able to effectively capitalize off his dominant bull rush as of yet. The opportunity is there.
