I’m back from an amazing trip to Boston where I saw our New England Patriots win their sixth-straight game as they beat the Titans 36-13, improving my own record at Gillette Stadium to 2-0 (The first win was against Dallas in November 2019).
I’d already been in Massachusetts for a week when game day came around, so jet lag wasn’t an issue. As it was a solo trip, I decided to use a coach company to get me to and from the game as Gillette Stadium isn’t the easiest place to get to from downtown Boston without a car! The trip was good and filled with mostly Pats fans, with a couple of Titans contingent braving forty-minute journey.
The coach arrived three hours before kickoff, so there was plenty of time to wander around the parking lots and experience the tailgating fun. The weather was crisp but pleasant as the crowds began to make their way to Patriot Place. One thing I should mention for those of you reading who don’t go to home games often or are planning to go for the first time in the future, what the Kraft family has done there is fantastic. Shopping, restaurants, bars, and movie theaters are all within walking distance of the stadium. This really adds to the experience, so it’s worth getting down early to see it all.
I managed to catch up with Mike Dussault earlier in the week when I visited The Hall which was great! Keep an eye out for a special feature with Mike D in the new year about a special anniversary related to the blog!
Now to the game, I booked my ticket a few weeks before my trip and my seats were incredible, behind the Pats sideline. When I went in November 2019 to watch the Cowboys game, I was sitting in the upper nose bleeds, which was a great view, but it was even better to sit on the lower level along the sideline this time around.
I would have taken a win no matter what If you’d have asked me before the game, but in the end, I was able to witness a solid victory, against a stricken Titans outfit who fought hard for the majority of the game, but their turnovers really helped seal the Pats win.
An early highlight was Mac’s touchdown throw to Kendrick Bourne, check out my video of it from my seat below!
It was real football weather, cold and with small flurries of snow, but pleasant enough to be stood out in the stands, the hand warmers I got from CVS came in handy! The stadium had half-emptied by the time the clock ran out, but I stayed until the end to see the fireworks launch from behind the new HUMUNGOUS videoboard.
The coach left the parking lot 45 minutes after the game ended, so I would highly recommend using their service, as I will be again in the future. It was an amazing day that finished a 36-13 win, leading to the headline ‘SIX STRAIGHT’ in the Boston Herald which I picked up on my way out the next morning.
It’ll be another year until I get to see my beloved Patriots take the field again in person, but until then, let’s beat the Bills tonight! LFG
