In honor of Drew Bledsoe being a finalist for the The Hall let’s kick off a Drew Bledsoe Friday Extravaganza with the time he threw 70 passes against the Vikings. Probably his most memorable non-Playoff win.
Bledsoe was a first overall quarterback selection who actually lived up to the hype. He led the Patriots from complete insignificance to a competitive Super Bowl loss in 3 years after his arrival.
Most of all he was fun to watch. Sure, he might’ve made some bad throws in some games, but ultimately Bledsoe was the first player since Steve Grogan that you were legitimately excited to see.
So here’s to you Drew, you’ve got my vote!

Patriots History Tuesday: The hit that changed the course of a franchise
Today we bring you the infamous Mo Lewis on Drew Bledsoe hit that opened the door for Tom Brady. When people like Brady talk about this hit they make it sound like no one has ever been hit as hard as Lewis hit Bledsoe. But to be honest it really doesn’t look that bad does it. I don’t know what Stew was trying to do by not just turning his shoulder and stepping out of bounds, but yeah, this hit just about killed him.
Makes me think I should break down the Top 5 defining plays of the Patriots dynasty…
Patriots History Tuesday 1996 Highlights
Since it’s Packers week I could’ve been a jerk and posted just the Super Lowlights from 1996. Instead let’s take a look at that whole season which really was when many of the seeds of the first dynasty were planted.
Tedy Bruschi, Willie McGinest, Ty Law, Ted Johnson, Lawyer Milloy and Adam Vinatieri weren’t born clutch players who knew how to perform on the biggest stages. This season was as much a learning process for those guys, where they learned what it would take to win a championship.
On a side note I wouldn’t mind seeing these mid-90’s uniforms brought back as throwbacks at some point. I still have a reversible Drew Bledsoe one that I bust out from time to time.
Boston Sports Then & Now: Grogan & Bledsoe Caught in Retired Numbers Game
Great piece by Joe Gill and he brings up some great points. I think the Patriots really need to look into unretiring the numbers that have been retired by establishing something like the Ring of Honor mentioned in the article.
Though I’m not sure I would call it the Ring of Honor, that’s what everyone calls it. We need a Pats-centric term. Musket of Destiny? No that doesn’t really work. But that could make a good Patriots video, kinda like Three Games To Glory. Or a bad Harry Potter movie.
