Patriots Today: Breaking down the schedule

Same old, same old here, but one thing I take issue with is:
Belichick doesn’t want defensive lineman Mike Wright leading the team in sacks again.
In the last eleven seasons the Pats have been led in sacks by a defensive lineman 4 times and an OLB 5 times, and once an OLB and DL tied. So I don’t think it really matters who leads the teams in sacks. As I stated in this article from last summer it’s about getting 3-5 sacks from a variety of positions that will most improve the pass rush, not just bringing in one OLB who will be expected to suddenly fix all the pass rush issues of the past few years.
In fact, in the Super Bowl winning years the Pats leading sack guy was under 10 total sacks each season. The only time someone had 10 or more was Vrabel in 2007 and TBC is 2010.
If you have a number of different guys who can get to the QB you’re a much harder defense to predict and protect against. It’s a lot easier on offensive gameplans when they know there’s one big sack guy that they have to stop.
Monterey Herald: Seymour vs. 17th overall
In this article the writer is of the opinion that despite a Pro Bowl appearance last year the Raiders would be better off with the 17th overall pick this year. Interesting stuff, especially considering the number of Patriots fans who still think it was a bad deal for the Pats.
J.J. Watt… Not going to be a Patriot. Haven’t drafted a guy repped by Tom Condon since Ben Watson. Won’t happen
Ian Rapoport
But my question is why not if there’s a rookie wage scale under the new CBA? It would make rookie contract negotiations easy peezy.

NFP: Q & A with Patriots Ron Brace
I like what I’m hearing out of Brace in this interview, hopefully he can get healthy and be ready to go when football returns.
It’s been an interesting two years for Brace. Based on his size everyone kind of assumed he was nothing more than Wilfork insurance at nose tackle. But last year, after finally passing his physical (is that what he’s referring to in this interview?) he saw a lot of time entirely at left defensive end.
In fact Brace said it was really the only position that he played in training camp, so it will be interesting to find out if that’s really where he projects or if it was solely due to Ty Warren’s injury.
Brace definitely showed some flashes, the most impressive of which had to be the 4th down goal line stop of Adrian Peterson.
Nice job by Patriots Football Place putting this Watt vs. Jordan video together. In my mind this is what it comes down to at 17, but remember, my mind retains the right to know nothing.
