If there’s one thing that has been cemented in the last few years it’s that despite bringing the hoodie-with-the-sleeves-cut-off to prominence, it’s been another piece of attire that has surpassed it.
Belichick won a second Super Bowl in the Hot Jacket, the regular season all-time leader in games coached (50), wins (38) and Super Bowl titles (2).
Yes, it will always be the Hoodie Database, but the Hot Jacket should have its own special place in Belichick style lore.
Make no mistake, the coach still has a fondness for gray cutoffs, donning the 2016 Gray Cutoff hoodie in eight contests last season, including the AFC Championship win in Kansas City.
So the question in 2019? Has Belichick settled in on a post-Reebok favorite hoodie in the 2016 Gray Cutoff? Every year the team releases a new “Belichick Hoodie” including reproducing the old Reebok one.
The coach has bounced around with each of them, with a special place for the 2013 model with both the sleeves and hood hacked off. Usually a practice hoodie, he wore it in Super Bowl 52 and lost. As I realized, Belichick’s three Super Bowl losses all came in cutoff Hoodies.
The Hot Jacket should only continue to extend its lead in 2019 and now it’s the most trusted Super Bowl attire he has.
